Comments now open on this blog

My apologies if you have tried to post comments on this blog. I've spotted a problem in the way I set it up and think it is now rectified.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about the forthcoming election on 02 May.

  1. Why has the comment I posted yesterday disappeared? Have there been others that have gone the same way??

  2. Sorry that your comment has not appeared Alice. This one has clearly worked though.
Feel free to try again (if you still feel inclined)

  3. Like you Mark,I have had difficulty finding information about the candidates - they seem to be keeping a low profile! So hats off to you for making the effort to gather what is available so that those who want to use their vote can (hopefully) make an informed choice.

    1. Alice I have tried to deliver two leaflets to all houses now and talked to a great deal of people on the doorstep including Mark. I am sorry I must have somehow missed you if you would like I could forward the information on to you. Will Tremayne

    2. Hi Alice. Sorry to hear that your having some difficulty finding out information about each candidate. There is some brief information on Mark's blog including my name, address, 'phone number and e-mail as you will have seen, but I can assure you that I have been pounding the streets in Redruth South for the past week and a half and will continue to do so until the eve of the election. I have also responded to Mark's Questionnaire which I understand will be published shortly. I have also had very positive feedback from those residents I've been able to meet. Finally, I can assure you that I will be delivering to all properties in Redruth South and will be happy to meet you and discuss any issues you wish to raise - that's if you're in at the time of course. Drop me a line at ithomas@redruth-tc.gov.uk with questions and/or your address and I promise I will respond dreckly. My very best wishes. Ian.

  4. My apologies to both Will and Ian who are obviously working very hard to reach out to voters. I was speaking generally - I am not a resident of Redruth South - because in my parish council area not one candidate (out of 11 standing) has been to the door or delivered leaflets. I had to use the internet to ascertain their basic details and visit the council offices for what little more information was available. However, judging from the response to Mark's attempts to help voters, not many people are interested anyway. Maybe this is not down to apathy but more a sense of disaffection with local politics following the removal of a layer of democracy at district level and the resulting feeling of powerlessness.

  5. Hi Alice. How come your 'Aliceinwonderland' and yet don't reside in Redruth South? (Ha Ha!). Seriously though, I am very sorry that your Parish Councillors haven't been out and about - I heard the same from a couple who live in Illogan. You will see that I have answered Mark's Questionnaire fully and, hopefully, given an explanation. Of course, as an Independent, I can speak from the heart (which, incidentally, I wear on my sleeve from time to time)and am not governed by any Political Party's doctrine or mantra. Keep smiling, best wishes. Ian.

    1. Hi Ian. I'm sure Redruth South is indeed a wonderland but I think my little corner, warts (ie would-be councillors) and all, would still beat it into 2nd place. I have read your answers to Mark's questionnaire and was very impressed. Hope some of the Redruth South residents will have done so too, even if they haven't left any comments. Anyway, best of luck for Thursday.

    2. Hi Alice. Now that's what we want more of ... pride of place ... despite the odd wart! Thank you for your kind words and so I wish you and yours well. Best wishes. Ian.
